Vestibule Mausoleums

Vestibule mausoleums are similar to small granite houses with a door that opens into a crypt-wide aisle or vestibule, with a column of crypts on one or both sides. A window at the rear of the vestibule provides soft, natural light to the interior making it conducive to tranquility. Lengthwise crypt doors allow the casket to be brought through the front door into the vestibule and then slid sideways into the crypt.

Columns of crypts are typically three crypts high which results in normal ceiling height in the vestibule. The customary and most cost-effective layout is crypt columns on both sides of the vestibule, totaling of six crypts, but with today’s smaller families the single column layout with crypts only on one side is rapidly gaining favor.

One popular alternative is converting the top crypt into a flower/momento shelf by recessing the crypt door and finishing the interior of the former crypt area. The resulting two-crypt or four-crypt layout addresses concerns about the use of the extra crypts and allows the area behind the recessed crypt door to be used for private storage or as a crypt for children lost earlier in the marriage.

Vestibule mausoleums often are custom designed with many variations of many themes being used.

Sarcophagus mausoleums

Sarcophagus mausoleums resemble granite burial vaults placed above the ground. They can be single-width or side-by-side and can be stacked to multiple heights.

Sarcophagus mausoleums typically are:

-

single-crypt

-

two-crypt side-by-side

-

two-crypt stacked

-

three-crypt stacked

-

four-crypt side-by-side stacked two high

-

six-crypt side-by-side stacked three high.

An exceptional version of the Sarcophagus is the Sarcophagus Vault which replaces the door with a fourth solid granite wall creating a totally enclosed tomb. Interment is made by lifting the roof stone, and after the final interment the mausoleum roof is epoxy-sealed to the walls resulting in a solid, one piece, virtually impenetrable final resting place.
